Te Wānanga o raukawa
Emotive storytelling | Creating awarenessThe concept of this story revolves around a young man who is enrolled in higher education. In particular, he is learning to wield the taiaha. We use this symbolic journey to follow the process of learning the taiaha and relating this to the learning process of Te Wānanga o Raukawa.
In essence, we see a young man unskilled, irresponsible and self-confident at the beginning. Through the process of training, the young man is humiliated. This leads to humility, and he begins yielding to his teachers, becomes teachable, and in the end, is skilled in the taiaha and gains mana through the journey.
